Head of Distribution Center

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor leads the direct and indirect work force to achieve daily production and operational objectives. The Production Supervisor will also be responsible for driving change within the work force to sustain the gains achieved from continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Summary

Under the authority of the Production Manager, the Head of Distribution Center measures and improves the processes of the Beauce distribution center, in order to optimize efficiency, transport costs and on-time delivery to our customers.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plans and coordinates the work of employees on a daily basis to achieve efficiency goals;
  • Implements the necessary tools to monitor the effectiveness of daily operations;
  • Determine and document work methods.
  • Review delivery routes on a regular basis and optimize modes of transport (LTL vs FTL);
  • Supervise transport coordinators and support them in their effort to reduce costs;
  • Evaluate and determine workforce requirements and collaborate on workforce planning to maximize operational efficiency;
  • Transmits customer needs and feedback to internal departments to improve customer satisfaction;
  • Initiates and participates in various committees and projects;
  • Participate in the negotiation and selection of carriers;
  • Works jointly with other distribution centers or departments (marketing, sales, R & D, Molds, displays etc) for the coordination of shipments;
  • Maintains a respectful and effective climate with carriers;
  • Performs other related duties related to his position.


  • Direct supervision: 20 unionized employees (10 days and 10 nights) 5 office workers

Qualifications and Skills

  1. The minimum degree of education and / or specialty:
    • DEC - Transport and Logistics or Industrial Engineering
    • Any other combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
  2. Specific skills and requirements: (language, personal qualities, etc.)
    • Bilingualism
    • Excellent knowledge of logistics / distribution / transport
    • Courtesy and efficiency in dealing with others;
    • Leadership: Being able to understand, influence and motivate others is an essential requirement of the position.

    • Knowledge of transportation standards (Canada and US) and customs
    • Ability in a Warehouse Managing System;

    • 3-5 years in a similar position
    • Supervision of unionized staff (an asset)
