Sourcing Specialist - China and Emerging Countries

In this role, the Sourcing Specialist will be responsible to develop and execute competitive sourcing and supplier strategies of the American Bath Group business in China, analyze emerging market supplier potential, elaborate go-to strategies, manage risks and drive procurement optimization, action/initiatives that will result in optimum key performance and cost-reduction results.

Job Summary

MAAX Shenzhen is a division of American Bath Group. Under the direction of the Commodity Manager, the Sourcing Specialist will play a critical role in the overall success of the American Bath Group fulfillment and business model. The Sourcing Specialist will lead and drive execution of supply chain strategies in a collaborative environment to achieve both tactical and strategic goals, including serving as an expert in influencing, leading and driving project implementation of supply chain strategies and development of short and long term goals for management consideration. In this role, the Sourcing Specialist will be responsible to develop and execute competitive sourcing and supplier strategies of the American Bath Group business in China, analyze emerging market supplier potential, elaborate go-to strategies, manage risks and drive procurement optimization, action/initiatives that will result in optimum key performance and cost-reduction results.

This is a dynamic, evolving role in which the Sourcing Specialist will work with the Commodity Manager, China team, the procurement team and cross-functional teams comprised of R&D, Product Marketing & Plant Operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Understand suppliers’ cost structure to perform analysis and challenge prices;
  • Closely monitor raw material market changes and currency fluctuations to identify risks and opportunities for cost reductions;
  • Lead continuous cost reduction activities with China team and suppliers;
  • Lead sourcing related activities including but not limited to RFQ, suppliers selection, qualification, negotiation and market trend analysis;
  • Source new suppliers as per supply chain strategies and business needs;
  • Lead or participate in supplier identification, on-site audit, risks assessment and qualification processes with cross-functional team;
  • Interface with cross-functional teams and Project team on new product development sourcing strategy and implementation, optimize material selection to maintain lowest cost, predictable availability and industry leadership in quality;
  • Manage commercial relationships with suppliers: business terms and conditions, price negotiations, commitment to purchase, price of non-compliance, value-added services, performance and expectations;
  • Support the MAAX Quality team and ABG Procurement Team in North America to drive resolution of supplier issues impacting performance/ delivery;
  • Coordinate with suppliers on PO confirmation, shipment, logistics ,delivery and other supply chain activities;
  • Maintain and update sourcing-related documentation such as NDA, supplier qualification forms, etc.;
  • Maintain supplier database for Chinese suppliers;
  • Other assigned work.

Professional Skills/Qualifications

Minimum level of education and/or specialization

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Supply Chain
  • Minimum: 3-5 years experience in procurement and strategic sourcing with Chinese suppliers

Specific skills and requrements

  • Must be bilingual (written and spoken): English & Mandarin being primary language of work
  • Good knowledge of China, Chinese supply base, market, business culture
  • Sourcing experience in Asian countries outside of China will be an asset
  • Experience working across cultures, teams and time zones with ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Willing to work varied hours to accommodate headquarter in North America.
